I remember seeing this a couple of years ago with the way back machine. The internet archive thousands and thousands of internet pages reaching back to 1996 (actually its probably more like billions and billions of pages!!). I noticed it again a couple of weeks ago with an article on the register about it being given a new home in a shipping container.

I spent alittle bit of time being nostalgic by looking at some of the internet sites that have either long since gone or some of the ones that I remember when I was just making my first baby steps onto the internet back in 1997!!! Its amazing to see the old style webpages where there is more text than images and other content.

Some of the sites I did a search on were:

http://www.google.com

http://www.altavista.com

http://www.lego.com

It was a good nostaglia trip and from a computer scientist point of view interesting to view how things have changed over the years. Later tonight I’ll try and post some of the sites through the ages.
